tips on educating children theasianperent
Some time ago I watched a documentary that raised the issue of nature on Netflix. The documentary chasing ice (2012) by director Jeff Orlowski. The film tells the story of photographer James Balog and his team in documenting how glester in three different places namely Greenland, Iceland and Alaska melted in just a short time of about 6 months. The melting of glester is caused by an increase in the earth's temperature due to global warming or global warming. Jeff Orlowski and James Balog want to prove as accurately as possible that global warming is real.
From the movie Cashing Ice, I became more and more interested in learning about natural issues through film, so I continued to watch the next two documentaries.
The second film kiss the ground (2020) depicts how the food and agriculture industries are currently polluting the land. This pollution causes the soil to lose its original function in absorbing water. So do not be surprised if then many disasters occur due to soil loss of absorption function, in fact water scarcity and drought because groundwater is decreasing in volume and floods hit various regions when rainfall is high because the soil loses its absorption function.
The third film I watched was titled Semesta (2019) which is an original Indonesian documentary film and produced by handsome actors idolized by young mothers (like me 😀), Nicholas Saputra.
Watching the previous two movies honestly scared me a little bit. Afraid to think about the fate of the earth that is getting old and broken. Which somehow the fate of our grandchildren will be if in my lifetime alone is so worrying. There have been so many signs of natural damage reflected through disasters. Is the earth still worth living in our children and grandchildren later if now the conditions are already miserable like this?
But after watching the movie Universe, my fear disappeared a little. Because through this film, I seem to be given hope that this broken earth can still be restored and repaired. Through the hands of people who really care, this film tells the story of 7 figures from 7 provinces who take real action to maintain the preservation of nature, especially on earth Indonesia.
Yes, this damaged earth still has hope to recover and be worth living in as long as more and more people are willing to move and care about keeping nature sustainable. Taking Care of Nature Through Parenting
She was the first madrassa for her children. The child's mother learned many things for the first time. Learn to walk, talk, eat, and various other basic life lessons. Including later children will learn from the mother how to form a personality and instill the values of life.
But when it comes to parenting or parenting, often our focus as mothers or parents is just about how to educate children to be "smart", whether it is smart academically or non-academically, busy honing various talents from an early age ranging from dancing, painting, or inviting children to love reading as much as possible. There is nothing wrong with it all, but sometimes we forget that there is one aspect of parenting that is no less important, namely how we educate children to be 'smart' in loving and caring for nature.
As I said above, that to improve the condition of the earth and keep it sustainable we need a lot of action. The actions of those who are willing to move care about taking care of the earth. Inviting adults may be more difficult, but it's different when we take children. Children whose souls are still pure, whose nature and potential goodness in him is still awake will certainly be easier to be invited to love and take care of nature. It may take time, but it is only to them that we can hold up hope of a much better fate of the earth. Who will take care of the earth they will live on if not themselves?
Cultivating a love for nature, this is where then me and the Mothers can all play a role in maintaining nature through parenting. By cultivating a love of Nature in children as early as possible, the hope is that it will be embedded in the value of caring in children when he grows up. This sense of concern will encourage yourself to play a role in maintaining and preserving nature as the following quote.
Stories Introduce Nature Through Nature Walk Activities

(Love grows because you get used to it)
That's what Java said. Similarly, when we want children to love nature, the main thing to do is to make children know first, get used to chatting and be given the opportunity to interact with nature. One simple way that I apply to introduce nature to children is with Nature Walk activities. This Nature Walk activity I adopted from learning in charlote mason educational methods. For mothers who do not know what the Charlote Mason method is, can listen to the following brief information.
I myself run this Nature Walk activity with children regularly, usually between 9:00-10:00 am, as well as sunbathing to absorb natural vitamin D. The activity is simple, I take children around the neighborhood. Observe various things, be it plants, rocks, water pooling in the sewers, butterflies, ants lined up, and others. If you are bored around the neighborhood, we go to the rice field area. I was lucky to live in a beautiful suburb with a large area of rice fields, there was even a small river that flowed not far from our house.
When my child was 1-3 years old, before I returned to work, I took my son Naoki to nature walk almost every day. But since my busy life increased because of work tasks, practically this activity can no longer be done every day. Instead, I make it on the weekends. Usually my husband and I take children to walk in the rice fields, play to the camp area of Kiarapayung Earth which is still very beautiful, play on the edge of the lake or climb a small hill that happens to be not far from our house.
Nature Walk is also not just a walk, I slip a lot of dialogue in every activity. Introduce every name of a tree, flower, or animal we encounter. Not forgetting I also slipped a dialogue of faith in it, introducing about God's creation and how to love His creation.
That was my short story in introducing about nature to children through nature walk activities. Simple mother, the key only needs to be consistently run regularly so that children get used to knowing until long growing love for nature.
Well but how yes, if it turns out that in the area where you live does not provide nature that can be explored? Living in a densely populated city for example. If the condition is so then Mommy can take the child to the city park or some distance away a little to the villages on the outskirts of the city. But if these two places are not yet possible, Mommy can invite him to do other activities can be a means of introducing nature early on. After this, I'll tell you some examples of his activities. This activity I quote from an article on The Asian Parent website about how to introduce about nature early on by doing activities at home only. Other Activities Tips to Foster a Love of Nature
Introducing nature is indeed through direct exploration into nature because children will be easier to understand if met with concrete examples, examples that he can observe and touch. But in some conditions, the introduction of nature directly may be difficult because it is constrained by location. The good news, Mommy can get around it by presenting activities that come into contact with nature at home, here are examples of activities. Introducing plants
Introducing about nature is easiest at home is to introduce children to plants, be it ornamental plants or food plants such as vegetable plants or fruit plants. While observing the plant show the parts of the stems, leaves, flowers, petals, pollen and others. Give children the opportunity to touch each part to create an impression through sensory experience.
Variants of plant recognition activities can also be done by inviting children to grow crops. Farming is as simple as planting kale or leeks.
Introducing about nature is not only about plants, through animals can also. Invite children to care for and care for animals, such as cats, chickens or fish. With the activities of maintaining and caring, you will learn to love animals that are also part of how to preserve nature. Read a Book about Nature
