Tips to Educate Children to Be Mentally Resilient and Independent - DoctorSehat

DokterSehat.Com – Every parent wants their children to grow strong both physically and mentally. Children with a strong mentality will be more resilient to face failure and some other problems as adults.

To train children to have a strong mentality can be started from the age of toddlers. Reporting from verywellfamily, some ways you can do to form a tough child character include:

1. Teach children to have specific skills
The skills in question are not just skills in art or sports, but skills developing existing self-abilities. For example, the ability to solve problems, restrain emotions and discipline.

Teach your child about the consequences of having responsibility. This ability will help the child to deal with problems later in life. Games that you can do include solving simple problems, detective games, or as simple as asking children to tidy up their toys.

2. Let the child make mistakes
The name of the children, of course, it is natural to make mistakes. Teach your child that mistakes are part of the learning process so that they are not ashamed when making mistakes. Give the understanding that every mistake will have risks, and it is natural if he gets punished if he continues to repeat the same mistake.

3. Help your child deal with his or her fears
Sometimes children do not want to sleep in their own rooms for fear of the dark. But if the child's fear continues to be left, then it could be that this will carry over as an adult.

Slowly, teach the child to face his fears. Encourage the child so that he feels easier to deal with it, appreciate all his efforts and give praise or gifts when he is able to overcome it. This way the child can learn that getting out of the comfort zone can make him more resilient.

4. Know the emotions
Sometimes we don't want a child to grow up to be a whiny child so it forbids him to cry or grieve. But it turns out that this is not good for his psychological development.

Children will feel that crying is a negative thing, even though crying is a natural expression in humans. Children need to feel sadness and disappointment, as long as they are not excessive.

Let your child cry because he lost his beloved item or when his new toy is broken, but teach him that he doesn't have to cry too long for it.

Training children to have a tough mentality requires patience and perseverance. You also need to put the ego aside so that children can learn to know their own emotions and mental strength.
